Unity:Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson

Unity: Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson was an astounding evening! It was a full
house at Miami’s Olympia Theater at Gusman Center for the PBS concert taping on
Thursday July 2nd, 2015 where the public was blown away by iconic
King of Pop Michael Jackson classics re-interpreted as Caribbean Latin music.
The seats didn’t matter much after the first two numbers since the amazing
concert turned into a dance party!
Fueled by his relentless
commitment, quiet determination and passionate faith in the loving message
behind much of Michael Jackson’s music, producer/multi-instrumentalist/arranger
Tony Succar has thoughtfully created Unity: The Latin Tribute to Michael
Jackson. The result is Jackson’s timeless pop and R&B tunes, such as
“Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” and “I Want You Back” married with glorious salsa
and tropical rhythms, resulting in innovative, vibrant arrangements that snap
to life with exhilarating energy.
World class drummer and percussionist Sheila E. hosted this
amazing concert TV special that showcased award winning Latin artists: John
Secada, Kevin Ceballo, Jean Rodriguez, Michael Stuart, Obie Bermudez, and
Jennifer Peña along with special guest Judith Hill performed, alongside Tony
Succar and his 30-piece band.
It was a very
heartfelt tribute to a great artist. And this was made possible by a truly
amazing and talented new star, Tony
Succar. Part of keeping
Jackson’s legacy alive meant incorporating elements of the original production
in each of his fresh renditions for Unity.
